The Grass Types - 2/22/2016

Group: The Grass Types
Members: Balee L, Campbell H, Catherine D, Kaitlyn E, Kendall T, Laura T, Sarah H, Taig L
Log line: A subject finds themselves in a utopian biome of super flora, only to discover that things are definitely not as they seem.

Overview:


Maps (Concept):
Below shows a top-down view of the terrain, with light values representing higher areas and dark lower. The map is designed to direct focus to the end point while providing multiple free routes to approach the end. Landmarks ground and provide a sense of continuity and interest to the player.





Environment (Concept):
Experimenting with scale and color for the low poly plant environment inviting the viewer to explore.







Colors:
Official color palette.






Models
Models based on concept work and low-poly design. 







Shaders:
Research was conducted on the various ways to make and apply shaders in unreal. A few test models are displayed below, some with translucent flat gradients and others with basic low poly shaders.









VR (Research and Testing)
I have tested different methods of exporting to Unreal as well as researched procedural genertion.







The soundtrack and sound effects should lend to the idea of a peaceful and serene environment without distracting or overwhelming the player.
