For the alligator and ostrich I referenced classical Disney designs.

Trying several designs and colors. The alligator’s expressions will focused mainly on annoyed frowns and eyerolls. For the design of the alligator’s eyes shape we gravitated to are able to communicate expression better and a nice throwback to classic Disney. A design choice we carried though the rest of our characters. Our ostrich for the most part is a bit of a bird brain, expressionless except for looked extremely happy and in a good mood. He will be the only one openly expressing is joy in meeting the new puppy friend. To show that these animals are pets we looked up items and accessories are would clearly communicate this. ie: leashes, muzzles, pet sweater. We also wanted these items to add some humor to the scene. Ie: a cone on an ostrich, while silly looking, also the length of the neck renders the cone pointless.

Animation: The animation for this project will be done in Adobe Flash at 24 fps. By using playblasts and stills from the models in Maya, animating over the scenes will allow correct perspective and placement of characters. We will split up the animation as a team, completing keyframes first, then going back and adding in the in-between frames.
