ASSIGNMENT DUE MON. 1/25

Due Monday, Jan 25 at beginning of class.

In your assigned group, brainstorm, research and post three pitches for a 15-second animation, using the format below.

Collect images that give you an idea.
Write a 1-sentence logline describing the short.
Trade ideas in your group and vote on the best three to post to the blog.

++

Format to post:

1. Image

2. Logline (see below)

3. Roles filled, roles needed to fill
(look development, layout, modeling, animation, rigging, shading/texturing, lighting, audio, effects, titles, other)

4. How you'll approach it so it's wonderful (can include style references from borrowed images)
(low poly? new methods? traditional technique with a twist?)

Loglines
Usually, loglines are written after the script. We're going to do this backwards...build a story from a general logline. Be evocative and provocative in writing these, to inspire your groups' imagination.

A logline for a 15-second short is going to be different than one for a 2 hour film. There may only be one situation, action, or reaction (think about buzzfeed cat videos versus an episode of pinky and the brain).

A logline has 3 parts:
1. an orientation statement
2. a premise
3. a complicating factor (but not a spoiler)

Here's a random longline generator:

Example:
A desperate terraforming operation goes awry when a nasty alien race is discovered.

Post these to the blog before class begins.

We’ll use this to do a pitch session to get into working groups.
