Oddity Alley Review 1

Oddity Alley

Sarah Brown

Logline- A bright, calm alleyway is full of little hidden oddities and events.

Schedule:

Concept Art for street layout & potential 'odd' characters:

First VR test with Unity/Cardboard:

Note- If first-person camera is too close to a polygon, a type of clipping may occur.
These two shots below show this effect happening when the viewer looks down.

Notes: While trouble-shooting an error in Unity where cast shadows don't appear in the app's build, it was discovered that Unity disables certain features in the free version of the engine. A Samsung Gear VR was checked out from the VizLab, so that new tests can be performed in Unreal Engine, for the sake of achieving a high graphic quality. More concept art and these new tests will be generated by the end of the week to stay on schedule and give better coherency to the visual goal, and will be edited into this post.

Thoughts:
While exploring type I found that type is much the same as people. Each letterform must be created just as each individual person. As I continued to explore, I also became aware of how we interact with letterforms through sight and sound. We must recognize the shape and understand the sound.
